Need Help Paying for College?
Stop worrying about how you’re going to afford it and start focusing on what really matters. BWCU can give you a student loan to help pay your way through college under the Federal Family Education Loan Program (FELP).
There are two types of loans available.
For students: Federal Stafford Loans (download form)
- Loan amount is set by college costs, grade level, other financial aid (if you got any) and limits set by the government.
- Repayment begins six months after you graduate, leave college or drop below the minimum enrollment requirement.
- Maximum repayment term is 10 years.
For parents: Federal PLUS Loans (download form)
- Parents/stepparents may borrow even when you don’t qualify for other financial aid.
- Loan amount is determined by college costs, grade level, other financial aid (if applicable) and limits set by the government.
- Repayment begins when proceeds of the loan are disbursed.
- Maximum repayment term is 10 years.
* Remember, the first step in the process is to fill out the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). Visit the Department of Education’s web site at www.fafsa.ed.gov.
